SPAR Botswana is proud to announce the Home Grown Project initiative. SPAR Botswana reached out to provide support to John Phooko Primary School in Francistown. The Home Grown Initiative is a vegetable garden that SPAR set up and which the students now maintain themselves. The garden provides vegetables to the school itself – and once they have reached the quota to meet their needs, the extra vegetables are sold back to Marang Superspar. This provides additional financial support for the school and helps fund much needed maintenance, supplies and equipment.
SPAR Botswana’s managers commented on their involvement in uplifting and supporting local schools and communities in general. “We at SPAR believe we have a responsibility to uplift the young people in our community and one of the greatest avenues for doing this is through their schools.”
