The organisers of the SPAR Women’s Challenge Botswana, together with our race partner and beneficiary, the Lady Khama Trust, are joining the fight against the Coronavirus and have decided to postpone the race for the protection and safety of all citizens.
Following clear and decisive guidance from the Government of Botswana, it is with regret that we wish to inform the Botswana public that the Board of the Lady Khama Charitable Trust and the SPAR Group have made the decision to postpone the SPAR Women’s Challenge Botswana & Lady K. RUN21 to a date later in the year (2020). This annual fundraiser was to be held at the University of Botswana Stadium on Sunday 05th April 2020.
To promote social distancing, self-isolation and overall prevention measures, we feel it is our duty to postpone the event and not create a situation where thousands of people would be in close proximity to one another – running the risk of possible infection.
Concerning those who have already registered for the race, as this is a postponement and not a cancellation and therefore, the following conditions prevail:
- All promotional activations will cease,
- Close of registration has been extended indefinitely, until a new date has been issued and approved by the necessary health authorities and governing bodies;
- On-line registration will continue;
- Refunds will not be issued unless a cancellation is issued.
- We thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support.
SPAR Botswana has complete faith in the people of Botswana’s resilience, and we will continue to practice on-going prevention and hygiene measures for our staff and customers in SPAR stores around the country. We are wholly committed to keeping our communities safe during this crisis.
We will communicate the new date for the event as soon as a safe timeline can be established.
