In 2019 SPAR Botswana decided to reinstate the SPAR Women’s Challenge, as part of giving back to their local and loyal community.
SPAR strives to make a significant difference in their communities, supporting charities with all the proceeds generated through this race. SPAR has always been dedicated to the betterment of people’s lives, and the upliftment of the communities they serve.
SPAR Botswana once again partnered with Clover and Bokomo to sponsor this women’s race in Gaborone. This is the only women’s race in Botswana, where the first lady over the line is the overall winner and the winner of the prize money. This year we are aiming for two thousand entries to top last year’s one thousand participants. We are encouraging women from all walks of life to enter and be part of this event. Entrants and fans can look forward to lots of fun, camaraderie and building new friendships.
The charity that will benefit from the proceeds of the race is the Lady Khama Charitable Trust, also the organisers of the event. Since 2004 this trust was privileged to support local charities. Charities that benefit greatly are those who assist women and children in need of social care, education and medical attention.
As an added charity bonus, a pack of sanitary products will be part of every entry package and will be distributed in co-operation with The Botswana Department of Health. The SPAR Women’s Challenge Botswana will take place on Sunday, 5 April 2020 at 8:00. Entries will cost you P100 (5km), P200 (10km), P250 (21.1km). Please note that you can enter this race by filling out your entry form at a participating SPAR or SUPERSPAR near you, or at the Lady Khama Charitable Trust.
