As we head into the end of 2019, we are reflecting on the year that has gone by and the numerous projects that SPAR Botswana has had the opportunity to be a part of. In this instalment – SPAR’s involvement in support non-profit and volunteer medical organisations!
We all know the extent to which non-profit and volunteers providing healthcare battle for financial aid. Over the past year, SPAR stores across the country have been donating funds and their time to help organisations in need.
Let’s take a moment to celebrate the SPAR stores that are doing their part to be force for change:
Acacia SPAR: Oodi Clinic asked Acacia SUPERSPAR to assist them with erecting a waste cage structure. They donated P26 000 to help them build the structure that consists of three cages to separate the different types of waste (Domestic Waste, Clinical Waste, and Medical Waste). The builders on the project generously offered to do the work at a discounted price to keep costs down.
Nzano SPAR: Generously sponsored P9814, 54 to help build a waiting area at Maipefela Clinic.
Letlhakane SPAR: Letlhakane SPAR donated track suits, shoes and blankets to their nearby Psychiatric Unit.
Mafenytlala SPAR: Maintenance was urgently required at Saint Annestine for the Disabled. Mafenytlala SPAR spent P17 751 to assist them with carrying out the much needed maintenance that included; fixing a leaking roof, purchasing a water pump and connection to a JOJO Tank, repainting of the school pillars to keep it looking neat and tidy, and replacing the tiles in the corridor. Much to the delight of the residents, there was enough left in the budget to procure a decoder so that the children could watch TV.
SPAR Botswana Head Office: A World Downs Syndrome Day celebration was held in March at Northside Primary School. SPAR Botswana donated chips, fruit and juice for all 200 children attending.
As always, our thanks go out to you – the valued SPAR customers who make all of this possible! If you would like to get involved in SPAR community projects, visit the Contact Us Page and get in touch!
