As we head into the end of 2019, we are reflecting on the year that has gone by and the numerous projects that SPAR Botswana has had the opportunity to be a part of. In this installment – benefitting schools.
Education is a cause that is very close to SPAR’s heart. Ensuring that every child in Botswana has access to an education is of paramount importance to improving the lives of all who have the privilege of calling this majestic country home.
Let’s take a moment to celebrate the SPAR stores that are doing their part for education:
Boiteko SPAR: Motetshwane Primary School in Serowe needed three wheelchairs for disabled learners and school uniforms for underprivileged children so SPAR stepped in and donated P9 238,50 for new uniforms and wheelchairs.
Ghanzi SPAR: Sponsored a veggie garden, including shade netting, gardening equipment and tools to the value of P8 000 to a school for disabled children between the ages of 5 to 19. The produce is to be used by the school and the extra produce will be bought back by Ghanzi SPAR.
Mahalapye SPAR: When Mother’s Union Orphan Care Centre needed help to provide for their pre-school, Mahalapye SPAR donated P17 957 for the construction and upkeep of a vegetable garden to help feed the 250 children at the centre.
Marang SPAR: SPAR sponsored P12 000 to Satellite Primary School to construct a vegetable garden so the children can learn to grow veggies and use the produce in the school kitchen. All extra produce will be bought back by Marang SPAR.
Orapa SPAR: Twenty learners attend Orapa Primary School but none of them owned school shoes. SPAR stepped in and donated school shoes to all the children, to the value of P5 619.
Palapye SPAR: Sport in schools is important to SPAR, so when we heard that Sebeso Primary School in Palapye needed help with their netball and football facilities, we sponsored P15 858 for the school to buy netball and football kits and the installation of goal posts for the learners to enjoy sport.
