The first Spar Women’s Challenge Botswana went off without a hitch on Sunday 14 April. Praise was given for the excellent organisation and attention to detail. SPAR hopes that this is only the beginning of good things to come.
The SPAR Women’s Challenge ran in conjunction with the Lady K RUN21 Trail Run as a 5km trail race. The Lady K RUN21 Trail Run is an established and anticipated event on Botswana’s running calendar and is proud to be associated with the SPAR Women’s challenge. 2019’s race saw 1800 participants in the Lady K RUN21 Trail Run, with over 500 of those participating in the SPAR Women’s Challenge.
The SPAR Women’s Challenge is done in the name of charity and the beneficiary of Botswana’s first race was the Lady Khama Charitable trust. Hans Kampfmann, the MD of SPAR Tsetseng, handed over the cheque for P250 000 to His Excellency Seretse Khama, the former president of Botswana.
Hopefully this is the beginning of a longstanding tradition of SPAR Women’s Challenge memories to be made in Botswana, while doing something good for those who need it most at the same time.
