SPAR stores across the country have been donating funds, materials and time to the people in their immediate communities who desperately need help with their homes!
Let’s take a moment to celebrate the SPAR stores that are doing their part for the community:
Village SPAR came to the rescue of Sisimanyana – a man in his early 60’s who SPAR staff came to find out, was living in very poor conditions. Village SPAR paid for and arranged for the plaster for his house and toilet to be re-done, fixed up the cracks in the walls, upgraded the roof structure and the floor in the toilet and painted the outside of house and toilet. Before they left, they made sure he had enough SPAR groceries to allow him to enjoy his new home!
Tutume SPAR found out about a family of four – a grandmother with her three grandchildren – staying in a shack in Tutume. To help this family grow and thrive, Tutume SPAR built and extra room and created a vegetable garden for them.
Serowe SPAR went out of their way to help Grace Khupe, a 54 year old woman and a mother of 4 children, who was living in a tent. Serowe SPAR has decided to help this family and give them the feeling of home by building them a house! A vegetable garden will also be created to make sure they have nourishing food for years to come!
Molepolole SPAR came to the aid of 69-year-old Oitshupile Itshekeleng living with the wife and 12 children and 16 grandchildren. They have just one cracked hut in their compound and one wall made only of empty bread bags. They have no toilet in and have to use the pit latrine from the neighbour’s yard. Molepolole SPAR went the extra mile for this family by building them a complete new house with their own toilet.
